I DON’T WANNA SEE THE SUNRISE TOMORROW
PHOTOGRAPHY & PUBLICATION DESIGN
The photobook comprises pictures taken in the zoos in Taiwan and Japan. In this project, We documented the artificial habitats of animals in captivity with a focus on the innate ugliness of such spaces and the oppressive situations where they are held. Boredom and sadness here becomes tools for further exploring the limits of human and animal life altogether: there is no spectacle but painful repetition, oppression and segregation. At the same time, it is in the negation of any beauty for such spaces that another kind of sensibility can emerge. The ugliness of captivity allows for the idea of freedom and liberation to become central in this work.
